What are cookies?

Types of cookies

Cookie duration

Cookies have a duration determined by the expiration date (or by a specific action such as closing the browser) set at the time of installation. Cookies can be:

temporary or session cookies: used to store temporary information, allow to link actions performed during a specific session, and are removed from the computer when the browser is closed;
permanent or persistent cookies: used to store information, such as login name and password, to avoid the user having to enter them again every time they visit a specific site. These are stored on the computer even after the browser is closed.
